I modified a well-known CELLULOSE ETHERS USED IN CONSERVATION[PDF] table to help me remember key characteristics of the different cellulose ethers that are commonly available and used in conservation treatment as adhesive binders, leather consolidants, and fixatives such as
- Methyl cellulose (MC)
- Ethyl cellulose (EC)
- Hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC)
- Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC)
- Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC)
- Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (SCMC)
